ISRAEL’S
FAILURE TO CARE
Leviticus 26:3,
6a
"If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments,
and do them . . . I will give peace in the land . . ."
What a
wonderful promise from the God of Israel who promised
peace, as well as many other blessings, for devotion and
obedience to Him. The LORD their God not only
promised "peace" to Israel, but also, that their
enemies would be slain by the sword. He would love
Israel, and He would set his Tabernacle among them. He
would be their God--the very One who brought them out of
the land of Egypt, freeing them from unjust slavery.
What did the Israelites do
instead? They despised God’s statues (rules) and
broke His commandments. Because of their rebellion, God
sent terrors, consumption, and fevers. Their pride was
broken. Their strength spent. Wild beasts roamed their
area. Pestilence would come. All this and more was the
lot of Israel when the Northern ten tribes were captured
and dispersed into Assyrian. That captivity lasted for
about 170 years. The Southern tribes were captured by
Babylon for seventy years. How awful--faintness of heart
for prosperity and blessing.
Are we not like these ungrateful
Israelites? The LORD God has promised so much to us
in this age of grace to us who have been "redeemed"
by the "precious blood" of Jesus. Yet, many of us
neglect Him, worship idols of our hearts, and thumb our
nose at His commandments. WHY? (ysw)
"I WILL LOVE
THEE, OH LORD!"
(Psalm
18:1a-2)
1. my
STRENGTH–for every weakness,
2. my ROCK–in
any
situation,
3. my
FORTRESS–protection
always
4. my
DELIVERER–from fear or foe in death or in
life,
5. my GOD–my
CREATOR and
SUSTAINER,
6. my
BUCKLER–in warfare,
7. my HORN–of
SALVATION and
GRACE,
8. my HIGH
TOWER–my RECOURSE and REFUGE.
THERE
IS NOTHING THAT I NEED
AS I WALK LIFE’S WAY THAT MY LORD
DOES NOT PROVIDE OR BE,
AS HIS
WORD SAYS. (GGS)

And
Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he
said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly
return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo,
Sarah thy wife shall have a son. (Genesis 18:10)
