Leviticus 19:34 -- Leviticus 22:30
WHY
SUCH WORLDLINESS?
Leviticus
20:24b, 26a
". . . I am the LORD your God, which have separated
you from other people . . . And ye shall be holy unto
me, for I the LORD am holy. . ."
A reader of Scripture cannot
help but notice that the LORD wanted His people to be
exclusively His. He did not
want them wandering after false deities or dabbling in
sinful activities. He wanted them completely shut in to
Him.
The LORD did not choose Israel because they were a
perfect people. He chose Israel because He wanted
them for a specific job. It would be through this people
that the Messiah would be born. He was to be the
sin-bearer for the whole world. So God, through various
means, was pruning His children for that wonderful job!
He wanted to bless His people abundantly. He
gave them the Ten Commandments to purify them. He gave
them the law full of health and living rules to keep
them free from diseases and disgusting habits. His goal
was for a Holy people to live Holy lives and worship
Him, the Holy God. He said in the last half of verse 26
that the purpose for such "holiness" was that
they would be His exclusively.
As we read more and more of the history of the
Israelites, we realize the depth of their failure.
Even today for those of us who are redeemed by the
precious blood of Jesus, God wants us to be a separated
people unto Himself. (II Corinthians 6:14-18) He is
still the GOD who separates!
Why are we so like the early Israelites? Why
do we want to ape the world in dress and behavior? Why
are we afraid to stand apart from such worldliness? Why?
Why? Why? (ysw)
"IT IS WELL
WITH THE RIGHTEOUS ALWAYS"
(Isaiah 3:10)
The Word of God
says so!
From the
beginning of the year to the end of the year,From the first
gathering of evening shadows until the day star --in all
conditions, and under all circumstances, >it shall be well
with the righteous! Even if you can
not see it, let the word of God stand instead of sight!
IT IS WELL WITH
MY SOUL! (GGS) (Isaiah 48:18)
And
Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he
said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly
return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo,
Sarah thy wife shall have a son. (Genesis 18:10)
