Exodus 28:2 -- Exodus 29:43
DRESS
FOR GOD’S GLORY
Exodus 28:2
"And thou shalt
make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and
for beauty. . . . to cover their nakedness. . .to
minister. . ."
God is interested in the way
we dress. Remember how He clothed Adam and Eve after
they had sinned!
I In this passage of
Scripture, we see that God was interested in the way
Aaron dressed from his head covering to his
undergarments. So many dress-details were given. Why?
The High Priest had a holy position to maintain. People
were watching him all the time. One thing the public
would notice was how he dressed.
We, who are Christians, are
called "priests" in the New Testament. Should we who
love Jesus Christ, not care what people see as they
observe our dress? Should we not want to stand before
the world dressed in a manner that would glorify God?
When people passed by, and
saw Aaron, they knew he was a priest. His clothes gave
him away. People see us every day. Can they tell by the
way we dress that we are "priests"? As believer-priests,
we have a duty to glorify God in every manner of our
lives. That includes the way we dress. Modesty is part
of "glory" and "beauty." (ysw)
"UNTO HIM"
OUR SEPARATION
IS UNTO HIM! HE WOULD HAVE US HOLY AS HE IS
HOLY! The Lord was
Holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners. There are times when we must
bear the reproach which comes from being "without" the
camp. The "separated
life" is more than living separated from apostasy and
the world it is living a
life unto Him. All our heart’s
yearning "unto Him"! (GGS)
(Hebrews 13:13)
And
Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he
said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly
return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo,
Sarah thy wife shall have a son. (Genesis 18:10)
