DECEIT & DESPAIR
GENESIS 27:1
"And it came to pass, that when
Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim . . .he called Esau
his eldest son, . . .and said. . .I am old. . ."
In a fast review
of Isaac’s life, we see how he respected his father,
Abraham, loved
Rebecca, and
favored Esau above all others. Why he favored his oldest
son, we don’t know. This favoritism has been argued down
through the times of Biblical history. In his old age,
Isaac favored Esau more than ever. He enjoyed hearing of
his son’s hunting escapades and desired to eat the
cooked catch of such adventures.
Being blind, there
wasn’t much enjoyment left in the old man’s life except
Esau and his food. Such a sad commentary on life that
all we care about is food. Because of Isaac’s appetite,
as well as pure deceit by his wife and younger son, the
last days of Isaac were days of family squabbles and
deceit. How sad. LET US LEARN FROM SUCH DESPAIR TO MAKE
THE CLOSING DAYS OF THOSE WE LOVE PLEASANT AND FILLED
WITH HONESTY AS WELL AS CHRISTIAN KINDNESS. (ysw)
"GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY HEART!"
It seemed I have had many hard and
perplexing things happen to me and mine.
These were too great for me to cope
with.
But God gave me this verse during a
time of utter exhaustion.
It has been mine ever since!
‘MY STRENGTH AND MY HEART FAIL
BUT GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY HEART
AND MY PORTION FOREVER.’"
(Psalm 73:26)
(GGS)
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And
he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will
certainly return unto thee according to the time of
life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son.
And Sarah heard it in the tent door,
which was behind him.
(Genesis 18:10)
